As if the Alhambra were not glorious and kaleidoscopic enough by itself, the city of Granada fills the two glowing summer weeks at the end of June and start of July with the Festival Internacional de Musica y Danza de Granada. Against the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and under the heady Spanish sun, the traditional repertoire of ballet and classical music is paralleled by a fiery exhibition of competitive flamenco and emotive, lyrical, traditional Spanish music.
