See more Natural World. See best of Paraguay

The Chaco is South America’s largest dry forest, spanning several countries and micro-climates from salt flats to forest to flooded savannas. Paraguay’s Chaco region is a flat expanse of plain inhabited by colonies of Mennonites, the oldest and most traditional being Loma Plata. Split up under several different National Parks, the Chaco is home to a vastly diverse array of plant and animal life.
