A hip but informal boutique hotel that won't burn holes in your pockets - situated in the vibrant De Pijp area southside of the city Owners Mirjam, Tom and Jacqueline Espinosa have given their 24-room 'boutique' hotel a fun, youthful edge. The décor is self-consciously clean and hip (lots of blonde wood, designer furniture and simple splashes of colour) and yet there's a loose, informal feel about the place. This is definitely somewhere to slouch about in jeans and T-shirt. Happily enough, hotels of this sort are becoming something of a trend in the world's major cities — places conceived by young, hip hoteliers for similar-minded guests or those looking for something special in the moderate to budget category. The highlight of Hotel V is undoubtedly the breakfast room, with its long white-leather banquette, Freisian cowhide pouffes, and rubber walls and floors. By comparison, the guest rooms may seem quite plain (the design touches here are not so over-stated). But then, these rooms represent great value for money; there aren't many hotels where you get this level of style and personalisation for less than £50 a night. To sum up: small, unfussy, with a sharp eye for design. read more and book at i-escape
