Tip of the Daintree, one of Queenslands bright emerald jewels and the turquoise of the shallow ocean. The idyllic setting, once remote is still far enough from Cairns (around 110kms) to feel like a rainforest retreat, yet now built up with a few comfortable hostels and resorts so it‘s accessible. Outdoor and Barrier Reef related activities are the main forms of entertainment, or else you can come here to do absolutely nothing in the most beautiful, tropical setting imaginable. Rain-forest means rain, so it is advisable to go in the dry season between July and November (which is actually winter). The government has so far limited development - ever time they suggest it there is an uproar - but the developers will probably get in and spoil it in the end…
