The accentuated fragility of Lausanne Cathedral’s ornate architecture has given the building a reputation as one of Switzerland’s most impressive pieces of gothic architecture; consecrated in 1275 it is still incomplete as far as the original plans suggest. The cathedral’s most recognized feature apart from the building itself is the 13th Century rose window overlooking a lake. Both walls of the main cross feature stained glass windows, which add to the sense of space afforded by the vaulted ceilings and spaced columns. You can walk up to the top of the tower for an excellent view of the whole city.
