In the center of Zürich’s Main Train Station, a 50-foot-tall Christmas tree radiates the light from over 5,000 Swarovski crystal ornaments that cover every branch. Around this tree the largest indoor Christmas market in Europe, with over 160 stalls, is Switzerland’s holiday hub. Scattered throughout the city are a variety of other attractions, including Zürich’s oldest Christmas market at Hirschenplatz, Niederdorfstrasse, and Rosenhof. While the Old Town Christmas Market is revered for its history, the newest market in town is known for its singing human Christmas tree. Located at Werdmuhleplatz, this tiny market has just twelve stalls but is very popular nonetheless.
