There’s a little something for everyone in Edinburgh at Christmastime. Multiple markets offer a bounty of holiday treats – French Market, Traditional German Christmas Market, Highland Market, Edinburgh’s Farmer’s Markets, The Eating Place, and Edinburgh Ethical Christmas Fayre are probably the best known of these. Every type of holiday food imaginable is served from the hundreds of enticing stands, along with traditional Christmas gifts from all over the world, depending on which market you go to. Walking around these markets allows visitors a chance to see the entire beautiful city at Christmastime, decorated on Night Light, November 22, with 200,000 lights. Christmas is also heralded by a number of traditional events such as the Nativity Carol Service, the Great Santa Run, and Green Christmas at the Royal Botanic Gardens.
