Grotte de Dargilan

See more Caves & Caving. See best of Languedoc in France.

This natural cave is one of the largest caverns in France, its long and wide rather than tall and has quite stunning fluid looking formations which have grown a soft pink colour. After the first chamber you go through to a former river passage where the formations are even more fascinating and crystaline. I can’t describe them, you’ll have to look at a photo. This is one of the first ever show caves (and it hasn’t even been as spoilt as many others by adding the lighting and pathways.).
