Ginnie Spring is a very popular site for open water, cavern, and cave diving. There are two major divable springs on the property. Ginnie Spring itself is the first spring you come to after you have checked in. This spring is usually filled with open water divers. The Ball Room is a cavern room located just inside the entrance to this spring. There is a grate that seals off the rest of the restricted cave system from access. So this is a great place for open water divers interested in getting a taste for cavern diving to check out. Visibility is 80+ ft and depths are no deeper than 60 ft. Penetration inside the cavern is less than 100 ft in distance.

The Devil's Eye/Ear System is located further down the road from the Ginnie Spring right on the edge of the Santa Fe River. Often times, it's hard to get into the water because tubing swimmers will clog the entrance steps with tubes, people, and coolers. This spring has a very extensive cave system to it with many side passages resembling a honey comb. Only cavern and cave certified divers are allowed to enter this spring with lights. Visibility is easily 80+ ft and depths are normally in the 100 ft range. The main passage extends 4,000+ ft in distance. Flow in the cave is fairly high. A certification in Diver Propulsion Vehicles is required if you dive this site with a scooter.

Stay within your level of training and equipment. Cave diving can be a very deceptively easy way to die. Don't become another statistic.
