Craigmillar Castle

A 15th century court with four corner turrets with corbelled parapets backs onto a cliff on the south side, where there is an L-plan tower house with two levels of vaults and many mural rooms. The east range with vaulted cellars is 16th century, and the west range with thinner walls and no vaults is 17th century. The castle belonged to the Prestons and lies quite close to Edinburgh.
