Siesta Beach

See more Beaches. Near to Bradenton (27.42 km) in United States.

Siesta Key has award winning sand. In 1987 Siesta Beach on Beach Road, Siesta Key was awarded the title of ‘Finest, Whitest Sand in the World’ from the ‘Great International White Sand Beach Challenge’ and in 2004 it was named ‘Best Sand Beach in America’. Whether or not it’s won the title since, its 99% quartz sand, finer than refined sugar, is millions of years old and hopefully humans haven’t managed to spoil it in the last few years. The best thing about quartz rather than the more common coral sand is that even on a hot day the clear quartz is so reflective it doesn’t burn your feet. The gentle slope of the beach as it enters the ocean and proper lifeguard stations, along with the non foot burning factor, makes it a perfect beach for kids.
