Hemsby is a sandy two mile stretch of coastline near Winteron-on-Sea, on the edge of the Norfolk Broads. There is a walk through the valley and dunes by the beach, and it’s designated both as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

English Nature describe Hemsby as having well developed aquatic fauna and flora, including a nationally rare species of water snail, the shining ram's horn (Segmentina nitida). There’s also a great abundance of orchids (Dactylorhiza sp) in the Hall Farm Fen to the north east of Ormesby Broad.
