Boutique B&B reaches Palermo: 6 contemporary-meets-antique bedrooms in the heart of the old city

The concept of boutique B&B – intimate townhouse accommodation with designer style and highly personalised service – has been winning many friends among the fashionistas and dolce viveurs of mainland Italy. First it was Florence and Rome, then Naples, and now it's reached Palermo. And a good thing too: for Sicily's vibrant, multi-cultural, gritty, love-it-or-hate-it capital could do with an injection of boutique chic to challenge its many large and loveless hotels.

Milanese owner Patrizia Marchetti spent 3 years restoring this 15th-century palazzo near the port, before opening it to friends and select guests. She still keeps her apartment on the 2nd floor, but the 1st and 3rd floors have been transformed into 6 immaculate and indulgent bedrooms, with space for a small breakfast room and terrace up top. We have yet to visit in person, but judging from photos, guest feedback and our own conversations with the management, we would recommend it whole-heartedly to anyone seeking style and seclusion in this bustling and underrated city.
