Europe's first inverted roller coaster, the world's first vertical drop roller coaster, and the world's first flying roller coaster all reside at Alton Towers, an amusement park located in Staffordshire, United Kingdom. Alton Towers is divided into ten different sections, including Ug Land and X-Sector. In Ug Land you can wander around the prehistoric-themed area and ride Corkscrew, the park's oldest roller coaster. X-Sector, the futuristic themed section in the park, contains Oblivion, a roller coaster that was the first to drop at an 87-degree drop from its peak. Alton Towers also has a water park, Cariba Creek, where on a hot day, you can ride the slides of Flash Flood or head over to the Wacky Waterworks Tree House, a tree house filled with water guns. It is important to take note of Alton Towers' Adrenalin week, where a week before closing for the winter, tickets to the park are reduced in price, but only the major attractions are open. One of the park's unique events is called “Your Day,” where visitors who wear optional RFID wristbands can be filmed on many of the main rides. As the day ends, all the footage is collected and you can get your own recorded DVD of your day at the park.
