The Colca Valley & Canyon

Here men and rivers have shaped the mountain landscape into long stair like tiers along the valley floor where they have planted crops and built up their towns, battered in turn by the lands rumbling quakes. The people who live here can trace their ancestors back to before the Incas, some of their traditions and the terraces date from that time.
