Paraty

The town of Paraty is considered a National Historic Monument: founded in 1667, Paraty was famed for its sugar cane mills. A port, it was also a centre for shipping gold and precious stones back to Portugual. Today, visitors can still experience Paraty's colonial feel by visiting the pedestrians only historic town centre. Take a walk through the cobblestone streets while being surrounded by the lush Atlantic Forest.
