Anne Frank House

As you stroll down the narrow streets of this charming city, admist the many canals and colorful, unmistakable canalhouses, its easy to think you may have just walked down the same street twice. However, as you turn onto Prinsengracht, your eyes will be met with a line of people waiting to get inside a house that wasn't on the last street- although its exterior may look the same. The events that went on inside this house, where Anne Frank and her family spent hiding for years from the Nazis, makes this place an emotional, remarkable place to visit.

The house itself is bigger than I would have thought. Although it can 'comfortably fit' two families, it certainly isn't a comfortable fit for the 8 people that could never leave the confines of the walls or go outside to breathe in the fresh Amsterdam air.

Going about the house takes about an hour and you're on your own to explore- no tour guides or audio here. Her actual diary is on display! You'll find out more about how they got along and what they did during a 'normal' day there, as well as how the residents were betrayed and got discovered.
