And I don't ride....

So I'm not saying that you should undertake a serious trail ride like this one in Torres del Paine unless you are at least a good intermediate level rider. But....riding in Torres del Paine is an incredible experience, even for someone (like me) who doesn't ride.

1) Saddles are basically comfy 'western' style with a sheepskin thrown over the top - i.e. it doesn't hurt.

2) The horses do what you want them to do. This is the only place I've pulled the reins to go left and the horse has gone left. It's amazing.

3) The culture here is all about horses - that's who settled this part of the world so you feel like you are getting a proper insight into the land.

4) It's incredibly pretty.

So, even if you don't usually like to ride, try and fit in at least a half day in Torres del Paine.
