At the same time it lies comfortably at 408 metres above sea level, which means it gets quite warm in summer. If you’re on the look-out for snow, your best bet is February. Travellers who shy away from low temperatures visit Zurich in the summer months, from June to August.

August 1st is Switzerland’s national holiday and Lake Zurich is famed for its magnificent fireworks (they also take place on New Year’s Eve). Ravers can dance themselves crazy at the Street Parade which takes place every year, generally on the second Saturday of August.
