Torun is most well known for its red brick buildings, from churches to houses and government buildings. The magnificent architecture was untouched by WWII making it a perfectly preserved Gothic city and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With a slow paced country feel, Torun makes a great escape from Poland’s other major cities. A quiet afternoon can be spent wandering through the monuments, gazing at the medieval buildings and munching on some the city’s famous gingerbread treats.
