Taking the
Express train from Arlanda airport to the centre of Stockholm, you experience what it might feel
like to have committed a grave offence. The journey is so quick, so quiet and painless
you can only assume you’ll be arrested for the convenience as soon as you step
off. So it is with darting eye and quickened pace you arrive in the Capital,
but don’t panic; you have but tasted Swedish efficiency, ‘tis all.
If there is
one must-do in summer-time Sweden it’s taking a boat from Stockholm out into the
beautiful archipelago then jumping off, tent-in-hand at any of the many densely
forested islands and exploring. Walks around the islands are a must, as is
having a drink at the wood-decked quayside bar and raising a toast to the
enormous Nordic sun bowing out, ablaze behind the lakes.
