Southwest Desert, United States

At any time of the year, the Southwest Desert will provide a remarkable travel experience, offering unique activities for each season. In the summer, although the temperatures are notoriously and often unbearably hot, it's impossible to pass up a trip to some of the country's most famous natural landmarks, like Canyon de Chelly, cliff dwellings that the Pueblo Indians used to call home. The wintertime usually means tons of snowcapped mountains to ski and snowboard down. And of course, there's always Las Vegas, which is not only open year-round, but 24 hours a day as well, with endless amounts of kitschy performances, buffet restaurants and Elvis impersonators to keep you amused long after you've lost your whole retirement fund at the slot machines.
