The South Island is a grown up’s jungle gym, with mountains for monkey bars, cliff edges for swing sets and raging rivers for slides. New Zealanders swear there are parts of the South Island no human has ever been to because of the vast open spaces and sparse population- perfect for attempting the most extreme stunts you can imagine.

Adventurers can travel for days- or rather raft, bike, hike and trek- across the South Island, running into spurts of civilization only long enough to have a beer with the Kiwis and move on to the next adrenaline induced frenzy. Hey guys - I'm travelling with 3 friends round the south island in December- we only have 10 days, we are going to hire a car...

I know it's not a long time, so what would people suggest as MUST DOs and SEEs....in our short time. thanks Sam
