Even though it’s right on the coast, one stretch of photo perfect beach isn’t enough for Brisbane, there’s a beach on the river as well. Tropical, humid and sunny, Brisbane is typically laid back and sports loving. Expo ‘88 poured a lot of money into the city changing the balance between shirts and suits and farmers come in off the sugar canes. Shiny casinos and visitor attractions like Dream World, Sea World and Movie World have made Brisbane more American than Australia’s other major cities - think Florida down under, which is why the city has the nickname Bris-vegas.
