Many beach bums flock to St. Lucia's upscale resorts every year for their fix of the island's exclusive beaches, fine dining and first-class service. There's even a drive-in volcano - the only one in the world. But not far from the resorts is an area of the island still largely untouched by tourism's sticky fingers. Bananas hang in heavy bunches off the tall trees and mossy green coves with sapphire blue waterfalls are hidden from view by lush vegetation. Of course St. Lucia also has white sandy beaches with water so clear you can see your toes as you splash in the surf - if you like that kind of thing.

St. Lucia enjoys an average temperature of about 22˚ C year-round. The dry season, when most visitors come, lasts from December to March. Wait until after March to travel, and you'll see the prices drop and the crowds thin out.
