Puerto Rico's official beverage is the Piña Colada, and the creamy, fruity cocktail is the perfect symbol of the country's charm - indulgent and mellow with a definite kick. Puerto Rico has 260 miles of beaches where you can snorkel, surf and sail the days away. But if you prefer, it's perfectly acceptable to stretch out your lounge chair and doze off while basking in the Puerto Rican sunshine. The country's tropical rainforest is a great place to spot local critters - both the cute and the scaly, and Puerto Rico's nightlife is ripe with clubs, bars, music, dancing and of course Piña Coladas (but they're also perfect for sipping from your beach side hammock.).
Best time to go
Like many other Caribbean islands, Puerto Rico enjoys unwavering temperatures throughout the year ? with an average of about 30˚C. But watch out for the hurricane season which lasts from June through November.
Language Barriers
Puerto Rico has two official languages ? Spanish and English, but Spanish is more widely spoken. People who work in the tourist industries are usually bilingual, so communicating with your hotel staff should be easy.
