Gdańsk, Poland

Poland’s major seaport and a great historic industrial centre, known for spawning the Solidarity movement, the first non-communist trade union in a communist country which ended up sparking the end for communism in Poland. This city, under one of its many other names and then a free state was also a key bargaining point for the Germans and the Allies in the lead up to WW2. Interesting more for its industry, history and politics than its architecture which is a mixed bag of industrial era architecture built up on the old medieval city.
