Perth

Perth uses its isolation to its advantage.  So far away from anywhere else Perth has to have everything, not just the saturating sunshine and horizon nudging beaches it’s known for.  Perth does food well.  Built between the Darling Ranges and the seafood abundant Indian Ocean on the Swan River this is fertile food growing land which easily fuels the local produce markets and upmarket tastes Perth has developed.  Perth also does the arts, with a blooming local and independent arts scene overflowing into fashion and design.  Laid back, out-doorsy and sporty, a great day in Perth would include an early morning surf, a big breakfast in a pavement café, a spot of market shopping, a bevy on the hill watching the cricket, a late lunch/early dinner in one of the many gastro pubs, taking in the latest piece of performance art followed by an evening stroll in the fresh smelling park the whole city spreads out beneath.
