The Maldives are a group of low lying islands in the middle of the Indian Ocean - tranquil with great diving, sailing and fishing, but not alot else to do. Perfect, that is, for a January or February 'blues' break, when the weather is fine and the rainfall low, and having done nothing, you come back totally refreshed.
See it before it's submerged. An arhipelago of over 1000 small coral islands, mostly only about 1 metre above sea level. Only about 200 are inhabited, and many are now private resorts. Idyllic white sand, turquoise sea with very good snorkelling, diving around the coral reefs. Also good for surfing, windsurfing. Helegeli is a good all-round resort without being too expensive.

Known for idyllic azure and pale sandy coasts, the Maldives are just as beautiful under the waterline - if not more so, and are one of the best places

We would like to go to the Maldives for our honeymoon in May next year and would like an honest opinion regarding the weather for that time of year. We have received mixed reports. My partner likes to go deep sea diving.
