At a Beirut market people mingle amongst the fresh foods and novelties while the sun bakes the dirt beneath their feet. Chat with the locals and negotiate prices for 'that gold trinket' as you search for the perfect Lebanese gifts. Admire the mixture of modern and Mamluk architecture along with the sharp contrast of old and new— locals in traditional dress stroll next to women in the very height of fashion, the old world tastes of Lebanese delicacies mix with the modern spices and new flavours of up and coming chiefs.

Lebanon mixes beauty with danger, the past and the present, isolation and congestion. Visitors only see both if they take the time to explore the populations of the cities and the quiet of small towns filled with Lebanese charm.

What to see in Lebanon

Lebanon is a small country that lies on the shores of the Mediterranean, just north of Israel. The country has a beautiful coastline, dramatic mountain ranges and an incredible history.

We suggest doing a one week sightseeing programme, with private tour guide to experience all its wonders:

- Beirut, a diverse and interesting place bursting with history. Visit the Roman baths, the crusader cathedral and the National Museum

- Mount Hermon, the most probable location for Jesus’ transfiguration

- the Jeita Grotto, this majestic rock formation is one of Lebanon’s national symbols

- Hammana Valley, one of the most beautiful places in Lebanon

- Ba’albek, one of the finest examples of Roman architecture in the world

- St. Maron Monastery, the shrine of St. Charbel is located here and the peaceful surroundings of Annaya is the perfect place for prayer. The magnificent Cedars of Lebanon are to be found in the hills of this magical area.

- Byblos, an ancient city of temples, churches and castles
