You could be forgiven in thinking that Iceland that hibernates in winter. The winter brings with it cold, dark days that see the highlands become less accessible due to ice and snow and many tourist attractions close. However, the people of Iceland persevere and Reykjavik, the capital, never closes its doors to tourists.

When is the best time to go to Iceland?

July and August are the peak tourist months - but if you can avoid the school holidays you'll get a better travel deal (not that there aren't lots around this year!).

How cheap is iceland at the moment?

Unfortunately the Icelandic Krona has strengthened by about 50% against the pound since last November, so it is in no way cheap. Some hotels have slashed their rates to get business, but that means it takes it back to pretty much where it was.

Fortunately for the Icelanders I suppose! Damn, I guess I missed my chance! Thanks...
