Once an icon of misery and suffering, Ethiopia is starting to display dashes of its former glory, and recent studies claim it was the cradle for the whole of humanity, and the point from which human beings populated the world.
Lucy, the oldest complete fossilised human skeleton was found here, but Ethiopia has plenty of treasures in its modern incarnation as well. Along the eastern borders the desert areas offer a contrast to the lush tropical forests in the south. Ethiopia also has extensive regions of Afromontane to its north and south-west, meaning that there are plenty of natural wonders to see and adventures to be found on a visit.
