Chania, Greece

A well as being the largest city in western Crete, Chania also has charm and history on its side, along with colour, most obvious within the old labyrinth of streets built and decorated by the Venetians then the Turks. These winding roads open onto busy markets and shady squares served by cafes and tavernas.

There are four main sections to the 'old part of town': Topanas, the wealthy venetian and Christian part of town, Ovriaki, the Jewish quarter, Kastelli, by the ancient walls and Splantza, the port and turkish quarter.
