On a busy main street in the centre of Buenos Aires are people selling fresh fruit, business men hurrying to meetings, signs for the local butcher, and rows of authentic Argentinian seafood restaurants. Turn down a side street and the calmer atmosphere of a small town rolls over both the people and the businesses like a mist. Buenos Aires has the dual sides of a big city and a small town - the atmosphere of a mass of thousands of people and a quiet get away at the same time. Every barrio, or neighbourhood, has a little something to offer, from the swank of the north to the markets in the south, meander through the narrow passages and streets to discover the real people of this port city.

After a morning of wandering the streets and a relaxing lunch of seafood and rice, spend an hour or two in the botanical gardens, walk past the Teatro Colón, a world famous opera house, and spend the afternoon in one of the museums. A late dinner should be followed by an evening of tango lasting until the early hours. Buenos Aires blends the cultural stimulation of a growing city with the comfort and ease of life one would expect of a small port town.
