Brittany is ideally experienced on a warm and sunny summer morning: hiking

shoes navigate between rocks and around fallen branches and sun streams

through leaves lightly rustled by a pleasant breeze though the forest’s

leaves. Moisture from the morning dew hangs thick around the leaves, until

the heightening sun begins to dry it out and it’s time to find a shady place

on the path for a lunch of local specialities: fresh seafood, pork sausages

with artichoke hearts and crepes for desert, all washed down with cider.

After a shower and maybe a few more drinks, the beach calls, its

white sand stretching for miles along water waiting to cool down sun soakers

and surfers. Laze and people watch while the sun slowly sinks in the sky

and when the heat begins to disappear with the sun rent a bicycle and pedal

the streets, maybe going as far as the next picture perfect small town over

to enjoy a quiet dinner. Over fresh lobster plan the following day’s visits

to Brittany’s megalithic monuments - which compete with Stonehenge - and

churches with their elaborate carvings of crucifixion scenes, while soaking

in the fresh colours of Breton culture.
