As the largest state in the nation, there is plenty of land in Alaska worth discovering. Chill (literally) with the bears, moose, and eagles in a state with some of the most diverse and untouched wildlife in the country. Amongst the locals, the ones who have spent more winters in Alaska are those who are considered the "most Alaskan," so make sure to blend in as best as you can! During the winter solstice, the sun is hidden for almost 24 hours a day, but it's quite the opposite in the summer, where in the late summer months, breathtaking sunsets occur as late as 2 o'clock in the morning. In Anchorage, the state's capital, a true sense of Alaskan culture mixes nicely with a growing metropolitan city. Along the coast of the panhandle however, smaller towns like Ketchikan and Skagway, albeit slightly touristy as popular cruise ship destinations, devote their economies to providing visitors with the most traditional experience possible.
